It is with very heavy hearts that the EBL have to advise the bowling family of Edinburgh that we have lost one of our father figures this morning.
Alister Paterson of Corstorphine BC passed away this morning after a long battle with illness.
AP as he was known to many was the EBL’s first past president to become an Honorary Member, something he was very proud of.
He is the first of the EBL’s 20 Presidents to pass away and that is probably the way he would have wanted it. So that he can go up there and get everything organised for our arrival.
He was a true gent, a man who is probably the most iconic figure in the EBL’s 20 year history.
Who can forget his weekly updates as the “Blue Blazer,” going round the club’s passing on his unique wit and comments about clubs and bowlers.
Alister, you were a true gentleman. A man that the EBL owes a huge debt of gratitude to.
The word legend is over used but putting it in the same sentence as AP is more than Appropriate. We will endeavour to carry on the amazing work you did for bowls in Edinburgh.
Miss you big guy. Gone but never forgotten.
